Azam Khan, who has been in jail for nearly 26 months, is once again disappointed. The High Court has not yet given any decision on his bail plea. Today the UP government filed an affidavit in this matter in the High Court. The matter will be heard again in the High Court tomorrow.
Earlier, Azam Khan’s lawyer had applied for an early decision on Azam Khan’s bail from the Supreme Court. On which hearing could not take place on May 2. Today the High Court has given a date for hearing in the enemy property case. The UP government today filed its affidavit on this.
It may be mentioned that the hearing in this case was completed on December 4 last year. The court had then reserved its decision on this. A total of 72 cases are registered against Azam Khan. He has already got bail in 71 of these cases. He was not granted bail only in the enemy property case. This case was registered against him at Azimnagar police station in 2019. Azam Khan was accused of having captured enemy property and merged it with Jauhar University. The police had also filed a charge sheet in this case.
On the other hand, Azam Khan’s lawyer had filed a petition in the Supreme Court requesting an early decision in this matter. That petition was to be heard on May 2 but could not be done. Azam Khan’s Eid this time also passed in jail. Azam Khan’s lawyer had said that the Allahabad High Court has kept the decision pending for a long time after securing the order on the bail plea.
The state government had sought time in the High Court
In this case, the state government had filed an application seeking time to present some more facts. The High Court had given the date of May 4 for hearing on this. On this date the state government filed its affidavit. Tomorrow again the matter will be heard in the High Court.
