There is good news for the family of 31-year-old Indian student Harjot Singh, who was injured in a shootout while trying to escape from war-torn Kyiv in Ukraine. Actually, Harjot Singh is being brought back to Delhi. Harjot will be accompanied by Union Minister VK Singh. Singh himself has given this information.
Harjot was trying to escape from Kyiv on February 27 when he was wounded in the gunfight. He was reportedly taken back to the city and admitted to the hospital. During a conversation with the media, he described himself as lucky to survive even after facing four bullets on the body including one bullet in the chest. According to sources, Harjot is being brought back to India.
Union Minister General VK Singh tweeted, “Indian national Harjot Singh, who was injured in Kyiv bullet injury, will return to India with us tomorrow.”
The Ministry of External Affairs recently said that the government has decided to bear the medical expenses of Harjot Singh, an Indian student who was shot in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. Singh is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kyiv.
Singh (31) had boarded a cab on February 27 along with two men on their way to the western Ukrainian city of Liv while trying to leave from Kyiv. Singh had received four bullets in which one bullet hit the chest. He is a resident of Delhi.
What happened to Harjot Singh?
Recalling the events of February 27, Harjot, a Delhi resident, said, “We were sitting in a cab to leave. We were stopped at a barricade and then shots were fired. I thought the time had come. By the grace of God, I survived.” Harjot is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kyiv. When Harjot regained consciousness a few days later, his relatives here heaved a sigh of relief when they were told that he had miraculously escaped bullets.
Harjot, along with two more men, took a cab to the city of Liev to escape to Kyiv. He told PTI over phone, “I don’t know what happened to the people who were with me. I thought I was no longer alive.” She is studying a language course at the International European University in Kyiv.
It was an equally difficult time for his family living in Chhatarpur, Delhi as they had no idea what happened to their son.
