Corona virus seems to be getting out of control in China. More than 3500 new infected have been found in Shanghai on Sunday. It is a matter of concern that many of these patients are not showing symptoms of COVID-19. It has come to such an extent that the government has decided to impose a lockdown for testing in the area. Statistics show that more than 56 thousand new cases of COVID infection have been reported in China this month.
According to media reports, on Sunday, out of the total new infected in China, 70 percent patients have been found in Shanghai alone. Of these, 50 patients are asymptomatic. The lockdown has started in Shanghai in a phased manner from Monday. These restrictions will continue till April 1. According to local expert Wu Fan, the purpose of the current lockdown in Shanghai city is to remove potentially hidden risks and eliminate all cases.
The local government said that Pudong and surrounding areas of Shanghai will be under lockdown from Monday to Friday, as large-scale investigations begin. In the second phase of the lockdown, the larger downtown area west of the Huangpu River will begin a five-day lockdown from Friday. As per the new rules, bridges and tunnels will remain closed. Whereas, there will be some restrictions regarding traffic on the highway.
The government has also said that public transport will also remain closed in the lockdown areas. Apart from this, the company and factory will also remain closed. However, food supplies and public services will continue. Apart from this, offices and businesses considered non-essential will also remain closed.
In view of the deteriorating condition of Corona, there were reports that people are panic buying. In such a situation, the items of food and drink and household necessities present in the supermarket have become clear.
