Congress MLA Madan Prajapat, who has taken a pledge to remain barefoot for life after his demand is not met, is once again in discussions. The latest case is related to the dinner program of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Madan Prajapat, MLA from Pachpadra Vidhan Sabha of Barmer district, attended the dinner given by the Chief Minister after the end of the assembly session, but returned hungry from there without eating food. It is noteworthy that after the end of the session of the Legislative Assembly, there is a tradition of the Chief Minister giving dinner to the members of the Opposition and the Opposition.
Now the MLA told why did not eat food
Talking about CM Gehlot returning to dinner without eating food, Madan Prajapat said that after his demand was not met, he had vowed not to wear slippers in the assembly and to remain barefoot for life. Prajapat told that when he reached the CM’s dinner program, his fellow MLAs told him that today the Chief Minister will give you slippers. Prajapat said that he felt that due to the insistence of the Chief Minister and fellow MLAs, his resolve should not be broken and if this happens then he would not be able to show his face to his people. In such a situation, he neither ate nor met the Chief Minister at the dinner program.
Pledge was taken when the demand was not met
It is worth mentioning that a few days ago Prajapat had taken a unique vow. Speaking in the assembly, the MLA had said that if his demands were not met, he would remain barefoot for the rest of his life, never wearing shoes. The demand on which the MLA has said to remain barefoot for life is the demand to make Balotra a district. Speaking in the Vidhan Sabha, the MLA had said that for 40 years there was patience, now there is no more patience. Balotra should be made a district. He said that he neither wants any post nor any other big demand, his biggest demand is to make Balotra district. If the district is not created, now I will not raise questions nor will I wear shoes in life. This is my vow.
Barefoot left the assembly
After the announcement of making Balotra a district in the assembly was not completed, according to his vow, MLA Madan Prajapat took off his shoes near the gate number 6 of the assembly and left the assembly barefoot. The MLA said that he is firm on his vow and will not wear shoes till the announcement of making Balotra district is fulfilled.
Committee formed for the formation of new districts
In the exercise of formation of new districts in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan government has constituted a high level committee under the chairmanship of former IAS Ramlubhaya. The committee will submit its report to the state government in 6 months. There has been a demand to create new districts from 50 places in Rajasthan. In the last 13 years no new district has been formed in the state. 26 January 2008 Pratapgarh became the last district.
Speaker of the assembly also explained
After the resolution of Madan Prajapat not to wear shoes, during the assembly session, the Revenue Minister and many other fellow MLAs and ministers had advised the MLA to wear shoes. Assembly Speaker CP Joshi has also advised Madan Prajapat to wear shoes. Joshi told Prajapat that the government has formed a committee for the formation of new districts, in such a situation, he should wear shoes with restraint till the report of the committee comes. However, Madan Prajapat is still adamant on his demand and is roaming barefoot without wearing shoes.
