The Delhi government has given another gift to the buyers of electric two wheelers. The government announced the inclusion of electric cycles (personal and cargo) in its EV subsidy policy. In this way, Delhi has become the first state to announce subsidy for e-cycles. Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said the government will provide a subsidy of Rs 5,500 for the first 10,000 buyers of e-cycles in the city.
In addition, an additional subsidy of Rs 2,000 will be given to the first 1,000 buyers of passenger e-cycles. Subsidy will also be given for purchase of heavy duty cargo e-cycles and e-carts for commercial use. The subsidy on Cargo E-cycle will be ₹15,000 each for the first 5,000 buyers. However, only Delhi residents can avail this subsidy scheme under the Delhi EV policy.

e-vehicle on monthly installment
According to another report, the government plans to provide e-two-wheelers to its employees on monthly installments. The Delhi government is looking at partnering with ‘Convergence Energy Services Limited’ (CESL) to provide electric two-wheelers to its employees, an official said on condition of anonymity. According to the estimates of the officials, more than two lakh employees work under the Delhi government.

He said that two-wheelers (scooters and motorcycles) constitute two-thirds of the new vehicles registered in Delhi. In view of this, it is important that this part be converted into e-vehicles to reduce air pollution in the capital.
