The Pakistani government, which is following the mercy of China, is now causing its own trouble due to its policy. Thousands of Pakistani students are unable to go to China to complete their studies due to Corona pandemic. Regular flights and road travel have been banned due to China’s zero-covid policy for the last two years. Apart from this, the Chinese government is also not giving approval to the visas of Pakistani students.
Pakistan’s new Education Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain has asked the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to take cognizance of the matter to address the problem of Pakistani students who have been struggling for the last two years to go to China. According to the Dawn report, the government has asked the commission to help students who want to go to China to complete their studies but visas are not being approved. Education Minister Tanveer Hussain’s meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs, HEC, Aviation Division and senior officials of the Ministry besides officials of the Commission.
According to the data shared by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the first phase, China had given a list of 251 students to Pakistan, out of which 60 per cent reached the students. The minister directed the officials to devise a mechanism to reach out to the students and also give them financial assistance by sharing the respective costs, according to the newspaper. In this matter, Pakistan has also requested the Chinese government to take a decision about Pakistani students at the earliest.
