World Championships bronze medalist Lakshya Sen continued his stellar form to reach the men’s singles semi-finals of the German Open Super 300 badminton tournament on Friday while Kidambi Srikanth crashed out in straight games to Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen.
The 20-year-old Sen, who won his maiden Super 500 title at the India Open in January, defeated compatriot HS Prannoy 21-15, 21-16 in a match that lasted 39 minutes. World No. 14 Sen had also defeated No. 24 Prannoy in the quarter-finals of the India Open. Sen will take on top seed Axelsen, who defeated Srikanth 21-10, 23-21 in 35 minutes in the semi-finals on Saturday.

This is Srikanth’s sixth consecutive defeat at the hands of Axelsen. India’s hopes now rest on Yuva Sen. The player from Almora had registered a convincing 21-7, 21-9 win over fourth seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia in his second round match on Thursday.
