The last pink ball test match was played in India in November 2019, which was against Bangladesh and now a day-night test match between India and Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru under lights from March 12. In that Day-Night Test match, when Virat scored his 70th international century, hardly anyone would have thought that after this Virat’s centuries in international cricket would dry up. The Day-Night Test is to be played at the home ground and in such a situation, fans are hopeful that this wait will finally be over.
Virat Kohli, who could not score a century in international cricket for the last 28 months, will keep his eyes on his bat when he takes to his IPL ground in the second Test against Sri Lanka to be played with pink ball from Saturday. Kohli last scored a century against Bangladesh in the Pink Ball Test in Kolkata in November 2019. He scored 136 runs in that innings.
Since then the Indian captain has played 28 innings but could not score a Test century. He scored six 50-plus scores and his best score was 79 against South Africa in January this year. He is now returning to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium where his team Royal Challengers Bangalore plays IPL. They will also benefit from being well versed in the field.
