German Ambassador Walter J. Lindner has called into question the role of the Russian President on the Ukraine war, saying, “From day one, Putin has been lying… He said he was not attacking but there.” They are rescuing Russian-speaking people and now there is shelling and bombing. NATO is a defense alliance, we have never been aggressive, never attacked anything.”
On Wednesday, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted on a resolution opposing Russia’s military action against Ukraine. 34 countries including India did not vote during this period. At the same time, India had also kept away from voting in the vote against Russia in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the proposal to hold a special emergency session on the Ukraine crisis in the UNGA.
India, along with China and the United Arab Emirates, last week avoided a US-sponsored resolution against Russia’s military action in Ukraine.
Lindner said look at the global order. Do we want this kind of widespread, aggressive attack on a peaceful and democratic neighbor to be the rule of the game? This will set a precedent for resorting to violence for every disputed border in future. So, we all have to stand together against Putin and say ‘No Putin, stop it’.
