While the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Marshallo Ebrard is currently on a visit to India. Mexico is also a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and a member of the G-20. Like India, he is also an advocate of independent foreign policy. Meanwhile, German national security and foreign policy advisors are also visiting India. America’s Deputy National Security Advisor is also going to visit India.
Russia’s foreign minister is coming to India today
Foreign Ministry sources said on Wednesday that Russian Foreign Minister Serges Lavrov is coming to India on a two-day visit from March 31. He is currently on a trip to China. His visit is considered important because he is coming for the first time after the attack on Ukraine. Russia wants to increase its trade with India after India’s neutral stand in the United Nations Security Council in this matter. Russia is trying to buy India oil and gas from it, because its supply in Europe is going to decrease.
Apart from this, there have also been reports recently that India’s purchase of arms from Russia has decreased. India also has its own concerns with regard to the supply of weapons, as the supply of the S-400 missile system is getting delayed. India wants Russia to ensure the supply of all five units soon. Apart from this, India and Russia can also discuss alternative payment systems after the ban on SWIFT.
Russian Foreign Minister’s meeting with Jaishankar fixed
Russia’s foreign minister is scheduled to meet Jaishankar. But it is not yet clear whether there will be a meeting with the Prime Minister. Sources said that Lavrov’s visit is going to take place at a time when US Deputy National Security Adviser Dalip Singh and UK Foreign Minister Liz Truss are also scheduled to visit India. There is an indirect attempt by America, Britain and Europe that India should not try to buy oil from Russia. They are not worried about India’s neutral stance, but in the current circumstances, these countries do not like the business benefits to Russia.
Let us inform that last week Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also visited India. With this, Gabriel Vicentin, Special Envoy of the European Union for the Indian Pacific, arrived in New Delhi this week. Regarding these visits, foreign affairs experts say that in view of the way geopolitics is changing, every powerful country wants that its interests with India should not be affected. Therefore, despite India’s stand on Ukraine, all countries are maintaining their relations with India as before.
India’s stand on Russia remained neutral
India has so far not criticized Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and has refrained from voting at UN forums on resolutions condemning the Russian aggression. Last Thursday, India also remained absent during the vote on a resolution moved by Russia on the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. This reflects India’s neutral stance on this struggle.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had telephonic conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, March 2 and March 7 since the start of the conflict. Prime Minister Modi has spoken to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky twice.
