Senior Madhya Pradesh Congress leader has met party President Sonia Gandhi and complained about the increasing internal discord within the Congress in the state. Party leaders say that there is resentment among the party officials and workers regarding Kamal Nath. On Wednesday, former President of MP Congress Committee, Arun Yadav met Sonia Gandhi and talked to her for about 40 minutes. Apart from this, a senior leader and former state president Ajay Singh has also sought time to meet Sonia Gandhi.
On the meeting of Sonia Gandhi and Arun Yadav, a senior Congress leader said, “Senior leaders including Arun Yadav, Ajay Singh, Ram Niwas Rawat, Suresh Pachauri and others are feeling neglected in the party. MPCC President Kamal Nath is constantly ignoring the senior leaders of the party. Senior leaders of the state wanted to tell the high command that all is not well in the Madhya Pradesh Congress and in such a situation it will be difficult for the Congress to win the 2023 assembly elections. This feud came to the fore recently when several top Congress leaders did not attend the meeting related to the ‘Ghar Chalo, Ghar Ghar Chalo’ campaign. Something similar was seen when Arun Yadav organized a Holi Milan ceremony on March 20, but Kamal Nath and many of his close leaders did not attend it.
Congress leader Vivek Tripathi said this on the meeting
However, some leaders of the state Congress do not want to make this internal discord public. Regarding this, Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress spokesperson Vivek Tripathi said, “This program organized by Arun Yadav was for a select few and Kamal Nath ji did not attend as he was out of town.” After this program, Yadav sought time from Sonia Gandhi and met her.
Sachin had accused of ‘behavior’
According to party leaders, Yadav is hurt that he was not given a ticket for the Khandwa Lok Sabha seat by-election due to the party’s internal politics. During the by-election, Congress MLA from Khargone, Sachin Birla, who was considered close to Yadav, left the Congress and joined the BJP. He had accused Kamal Nath of behaving ‘autocratic’. After the defeat of the Congress in this by-election, Kamal Nath removed four leaders from their posts in Khandwa and Khargone citing anti-party activities. These four were also close to Yadav.
Arun Yadav said this on meeting with Sonia
A party leader close to Yadav said, “The internal politics going on in the party along with Kamal Nath’s behavior was discussed in the meeting with Sonia Gandhi. On the other hand, when Yadav was talked about this, he said that only general issues were discussed in the meeting with Sonia Gandhi.
Congress-BJP counterattack on each other
On the other hand, BJP leaders targeted the Congress over this squabble. Home Minister Narottam Mishra said, ‘Kamal Nath is constantly ignoring Arun Yadav. Yadav has given his complaint to Sonia Gandhi. Now Kamal Nath will get a big challenge from Arun Yadav. However, Narendra Saluja, media in-charge of MP Congress Committee, said, “There is no infighting in the party. Arun Yadav had met Sonia Gandhi to have a general discussion. He said that BJP leaders are spreading lies to hide the problems of their party. Saluja claimed that the Home Minister himself is holding meetings with the top leadership for the post of Chief Minister.
