The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has decided to take back his portfolio from jailed Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik in a money laundering case. A senior party leader gave this information. However, Nawab Malik will not resign as a cabinet minister. The NCP has also decided to ask Malik not to resign.
On the other hand the opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded Malik’s resignation. In the state government, Malik held the portfolios of skill development and minority affairs. He is also the Guardian Minister of Parbhani and Gondia districts. A senior party leader said the skill development portfolio would be given to health minister Rajesh Tope and the minority affairs department would be handed over to housing minister Jitendra Awhad. Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde has been given the charge of Parbhani district.
Apart from this, Minister of State for Power Prajakt Tanpure will be the new foster minister of Gondia district. Maharashtra NCP State President and Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil while talking to the media said that the proposal for distribution of Malik’s portfolios will be sent to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray who will send him to the Raj Bhavan.
