Maoists attacked Elmagunda CRPF camp in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. Three CRPF personnel have been injured in the attack. The Maoists opened fire on the camp and also lobbed country hand grenades. The soldiers also took the front, after which the Naxalites fled towards the forest. This camp has been opened only a month ago in the very sensitive Chintagufa area. The injured soldiers have been sent to Raipur by helicopter from Elmagunda.
Bastar IG Sundarraj P told that a new camp has been established sometime back at Elmagunda in Sukma district. The Maoists have suffered a lot due to the setting up of this camp. They had to retreat from their occupied territory. In such a situation, the angry Maoists are constantly trying to harm the soldiers. Naxalites are trying to break the morale of the soldiers, but they are not able to succeed in that. On Monday morning at around 6.30 am, the Maoists opened fire on the camp and also lobbed country hand grenades.
Firing from both sides for half an hour
After the attack by the Maoists, the soldiers took the front and gave a befitting reply. The Maoists also suffered losses in the encounter that lasted for about half an hour and they fled towards the forests. In the incident, 2nd Corps, CRPF head constable Hemant Chaudhary, constable Basappa and constable Lalit Bagh have been injured. The condition of the injured jawans is out of danger. The soldiers have been sent to Raipur by helicopter from Elmagunda for better treatment. (Input- Vikas Tiwari)
