Bharatiya Janata Party’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said on Friday that there should be a prohibition of liquor in Madhya Pradesh but a proper study should be done first without rushing for it. The issue of prohibition is becoming important in the politics of the state. While former Chief Minister of the state Uma Bharti is demanding to implement prohibition, on the other hand, the state government has taken several measures to increase the revenue from liquor in the new excise policy of 2022-23.
Involved in our wine rituals
On the question of Uma Bharti demanding prohibition in Madhya Pradesh, Vijayvargiya said that it is such that there should be a ban on liquor. But where it has been used (in the states), there is also a need to study it. In our state, 23 percent of the population is tribal and liquor, toddy are associated with their rituals. It is also used in their worship lessons. We need to do serious study about it before banning him. Taking any decision in haste will not bring good results. Vijayvargiya refused to comment on the recent incident of stone pelting by Uma Bharti at a liquor shop symbolically in support of prohibition.
nothing to change leadership
On the question of change of leadership (chief minister’s post) in Madhya Pradesh and Jyotiraditya Scindia’s name being tossed by some people for this, he said that the party has not taken any decision on it. Shivraj Singh Chouhan is doing good work in the state and the next election will be fought under his leadership. The BJP leader was speaking at a press conference organized to announce the ‘National Pithu (Sitolia) Competition’ to be held in Bhopal from March 28 to April 1. 30 teams from across the country will participate in this event.
Said – there is no democracy in West Bengal
Vijayvargiya said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also talked about promoting traditional Indian sports in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. Organizing them does not require much means and resources and physical exercise is also good. BJP general secretary in-charge of West Bengal Vijayvargiya alleged that there is no democracy in the eastern state, even as FIRs of serious crime like rape are registered by the police only after getting permission from the office of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
