Summer has arrived and for many of us, huge electricity bills too. During hot weather, the use of products like refrigerators, fans, air conditioners and coolers increases the power consumption. The most used most power consuming air conditioner (AC) during summers becomes everyone’s need. But when the electricity bill comes, the sweat goes away. So today we are telling you some such tips through which you can reduce your AC bill. These tips can help you reduce your electricity bill while using AC. Let us know about them:
1. When you are not using the AC, then you turn it off
Most of us want our AC to cool down instantly as soon as we press the button of the remote. To do this, many people simply turn off the AC with the remote control, not the mains source. This results in wastage of power as the compressor is left idling in this situation so that it can restart immediately when the AC is turned on.
2. Set the temperature of your AC right
People believe that AC will give better cooling when the temperature is low. However, this is not the case. According to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), 24 degrees is the ideal temperature for the human body and any AC will take less load to achieve that goal than the minimum temperature setting. This means that when you set the temperature of your AC to an optimum level, you will be able to save more electricity.
3. Get your AC serviced
Most manufacturers claim that their ACs do not require frequent service and this is true to some extent. However, it is advised that you should get your AC servicing regularly as ACs in India are not used throughout the year and ACs tend to get dusty when not in use. By servicing the AC, it works properly and helps in paying the electricity bill.
4. Use a Timer to Avoid Overuse
Currently, in almost every AC available in the market, users can set the timer according to their need, however, many people do not use it. This feature can help you set a specific time to turn off the AC. This helps in avoiding over usage which reduces the wastage of electricity which happens when you forget to turn off the AC or while you are sleeping.
