Rohit Sharma gets emotional: Team India has made a great start in Test cricket under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. India defeated Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the first Test in Mohali to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. This was Rohit’s first Test match as a full-time captain and he made history in his ‘debut’ match itself. Rohit is only the second Indian captain so far to register an innings win in his debut match as captain. Before him, Polly Umrigar had achieved this feat in 1956. After the first Test match, Rohit recently gave an interview on BCCI TV, in which he looked very emotional.
Rohit said during an interview with BCCI TV that he never even dreamed that he would become the captain of Team India in all three formats. Before the Test series against Sri Lanka, Rohit was made India’s 35th Test captain. Now the second match of the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Bengaluru from March 12, which will be a Day Night Test match. The Indian captain said, ‘It is a great honor for me to captain the Indian team and be a part of this list. I had never even dreamed about it.
Apart from captaincy, Hitman Rohit also won the hearts of fans with his decisions. The Mohali Test was the 100th Test match of Virat Kohli’s career. He scored 45 runs in this match. To make Kohli’s historic match more special, Rohit decided to hold a guard of honor for Virat. After giving the guard of honor to Kohli along with his fellow players, the captain said, ‘Wherever we stand in this format, all the credit goes to Virat.’
