The war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Meanwhile, the third round of talks between the two countries has also ended in Belarus on Monday. On the one hand, while this round of talks was also fruitless, on the other hand Ukraine has described it as a ‘positive result’. An adviser to the Ukrainian president said the third round of talks with Russia had concluded, progress had been made on building a humanitarian corridor. However, a Russian negotiator said his hopes were “not yet met”.
Adviser to the Ukrainian presidential office, Mikhail Podolik, was part of the delegation leading the Ukrainian side of the talks. He said that while the ceasefire and security guarantees were discussed, some basic political issues were discussed in depth.
In the third round of talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in the Brest region of Belarus, the Russian delegation was led by Russian President’s Aide Vladimir, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov and the State of International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the Duma committee.
At the same time, the Ukrainian delegation included Mikhail Podolik, adviser to the Ukrainian presidential office, David Arkhamia, head of the ruling Servant of the People party in the Ukrainian parliament, Defense Minister Oleksey Reznikov and other Ukrainian politicians.
UNSC to discuss humanitarian situation in Ukraine
The United Nations Security Council held a meeting on Monday to discuss the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Since the start of the Russian invasion, more than 1.7 million Ukrainians are said to have entered Central European countries. The United Nations continues to make diplomatic efforts to end the military conflict.
France and Mexico last week prepared a resolution for the UNSC to address the humanitarian impact of the conflict, although it is unclear whether it was formally presented at Monday’s meeting.
