Afghanistan’s young leg-spinner Rashid Khan has condoled the death of great Australian spinner Shane Warne. Warne died of a heart attack in Thailand on Friday. Warne, 52, was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious state, where he was declared brought dead by doctors. Australian cricket lost two legends in a single day. The great wicketkeeper Rod Marsh had passed away in the morning and 12 hours after that Warne also said goodbye to the world. Condoling the death of Warne, Afghanistan’s young leg-spinner Rashid Khan has said that he still cannot believe how suddenly it happened.
Afghanistan’s team is currently playing the second T20 match against Bangladesh in Dhaka. Rashid Khan said before the match, ‘He (Shane Warne) was on my mind all night. When I woke up in the morning I checked my phone several times to understand what really happened last night. It was a great honor for me to bowl with him at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.#RIPShaneWarne
Rashid had broken a record held by Shane Warne in the match against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi in March last year. Rashid became the bowler who bowled the most overs in a Test match in that match in the 21st century. The Afghanistan spinner bowled 99.2 overs in that match and broke Shane Warne’s record. Before him, Shane Warne had bowled 98 overs against South Africa in Cape Town. The record for most overs bowled in a single Test match is held by Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan, who bowled 113.5 against England at The Oval.
