Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and sought his support in evacuating Indians stranded in the Ukrainian city of Sumy amid Russian aggression. After talking to the Prime Minister, Zelensky expressed his gratitude to India and said that he had apprised PM Modi about the situation in Ukraine.
Zelensky tweeted, “Informed Indian PM Modi of countering Russian aggression. India appreciates Ukraine’s commitment to providing assistance to Indian nationals trapped in Ukraine during the war and peaceful dialogue at the highest level. Ukraine Grateful to India for the support of the people of India.”
Earlier, Indian government sources said that Prime Minister Modi spoke to Ukrainian President Zelensky over the phone. The phone call lasted for about 35 minutes. The two leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine. The Prime Minister appreciated the ongoing direct talks between Russia and Ukraine.
Prime Minister Modi thanked President Zelensky for the assistance extended by the Ukrainian government in the evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine. The Prime Minister sought the continued support of the Ukrainian government in the ongoing efforts to evacuate Indian nationals from Sumi.
