Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said on Thursday that the number of terrorists in the Union Territory is decreasing but the violence will not end as long as the youth have guns and grenades. He appealed to the youth who have chosen the path of terrorism to leave the path of violence and join the mainstream of the country.
After a program, Dilbagh Singh said, ‘The number of terrorists is decreasing but as long as there are guns and grenades, the violence will continue. A person armed with a gun or hand grenade has the ability to kill and injure people. Their numbers are decreasing year after year, the incidents of terrorism are also decreasing but killings are still happening. He said that killings by terrorists are condemnable and such acts need to stop.
The DGP said, ‘Therefore, preventive action is being taken by us. Wherever there are OGWs (over ground activists of terrorist organizations) or their support systems that help keep terrorism alive, we are taking action against them and it will continue.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing violence and demolition for the last 30 years and thousands of people have lost their lives in it. Singh said, “Youth, children, elderly, women, security personnel and police personnel have made their sacrifices. There is a need to leave the path of violence and destruction and walk on the path of peace.
The DGP said, ‘I want to tell those people who are still on the wrong path, who are being instigated by our neighbor and killing innocent people with guns and pistols that this is not the right path under any circumstances. and leads to destruction. Give up on this path. There is a need to follow the path of development and prosperity. When asked about the steps being taken for the security of the panchayat members, Singh said that the steps are being taken after security assessment is done by the security forces.
