Ukrainian media outlet The Kyiv Independent reported on Tuesday that President Volodymyr Zelensky has blamed Western nations, without naming, for not protecting Ukrainian cities and citizens from Russian bombs.
Zelensky said Western nations had failed to make “obviously necessary” decisions over the past 13 days, including ordering a “no fly zone” on Ukraine to prevent Russian attacks. He alleged that by not doing so, they have failed to save our country from bombs and missiles.
“While the Russians are to blame for the murders, so can those who have not been able to approve an apparently necessary decision in their Western offices for 13 days, they have destroyed our cities with these bombs,” he said. And not protected by missiles – while they can.”
Volodymyr Zelensky said, “It has been 13 days. We are hearing promises, in 13 days we are told that we will be helped in the air, there will be planes that will deliver them to us. But it is also the responsibility of those who For 13 days the West was not able to decide, on those who did not secure the Ukrainian skies from Russian assassins.”
The Zelensky president has emerged as an inspirational figure for the defenders of Ukraine. He has asked many questions to Western countries during this crisis. “The International Committee of the Red Cross is forbidding us from using their emblem on humanitarian mission vehicles. This is very revealing. Some influential people would like to move out of Ukraine,” he said.
The Russian invasion is said to be the biggest attack on a European state since World War II, with 1.7 million people fleeing to other countries. The head of the UN refugee agency said on Tuesday that he expects the number to exceed two million in 48 hours.
