The exit polls are out. At the same time, the results will also start coming from Thursday evening. Who will form the government from how many seats in the 18th assembly will be decided tomorrow, but if we look at the history of UP, the parties that form the majority government here have crossed the 300 mark only four times. It started with the very first elections in 1951. Till now BJP, Congress, Janata Party have the record of winning more than 300 seats.
In the year 2017, BJP formed the government by winning 312 seats. Prior to this, BJP had got 221 seats in Ramlahar in 1991, but in the first assembly elections held in 1951, Congress formed the government by winning 388 seats out of 413 seats. However, this record has not been broken yet. At the same time, in the elections held after the Emergency, in 1977, the Janata Party formed the government by winning 352 seats and the Congress was reduced to 47. At the same time, Congress came alive again and in 1980 too, Congress had won 309 seats and then BJP was only in 11 seats.
If we talk about winning between 250 and 300 seats, then the name of Congress comes in this too. Congress had won 286 seats in 1957 and after that it won 269 seats in 1985, at that time only BJP could win 16 seats. At the same time, 250 seats out of 200 seats have been won by many parties many times. Congress won 249 seats in 1962, Congress 211 in 1969, 215 in 1974, 205 in 1969, BJP in 1991, 221, BSP 206 in 2007 and SP won 224 seats in 2012.
