Will Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SUBHSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar once again take a U-turn and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government? It is being claimed in media reports that OP Rajbhar, who contested the elections in collaboration with the Samajwadi Party alliance, has met former BJP president and Home Minister Amit Shah. However, it has not been officially confirmed.
There is speculation that OP Rajbhar may once again join the BJP and become a minister in the Yogi government. In 2017, he contested the elections with the BJP alliance and became a minister in the Yogi government, but later turned rebel and was an important alliance partner of Akhilesh Yadav in the recently concluded assembly elections. However, after the defeat of the SP in the elections, there was speculation that Rajbhar might change course once again.
It is being told that Om Prakash Rajbhar met Home Minister Amit Shah, UP in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan in Delhi on Friday. Sunil Bansal was also present in the meeting. The talks between the four leaders lasted for about an hour. However, this meeting has not been confirmed by either the BJP or the SubhaSP.
If OP Rajbhar leaves the SP, then Akhilesh Yadav will get a setback in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the BJP would like to compensate for the loss in some districts of Purvanchal with the help of Rajbhar. Rajbhar’s party has strengthened its hold in these areas. OP Rajbhar’s party has captured six seats in this election. While the BJP alliance won 273 seats, the SP alliance was reduced to 125 seats.
