Chandigarh. The portrait of Lord Inderjit Singh, the first turbaned Sikh MP in the UK and Europe, has been installed in the Bishop’s Corridor of the House of Lords of the British Parliament in Westminster, London, in recognition of his significant services in Parliament and contribution to public service to the nation. This is the first time that a portrait of a Sikh has been displayed in the British Parliament.

G.S.C. Ram Singh, Deputy Speaker of the UK Parliament, said that this is the first time that a Gursikh’s portrait will adorn the walls of the historic UK Parliament. Chairman of the Sikh Prachar Samiti, Rajinder Singh described it as a historic achievement for the entire Sikh community and said that it is a moment of immense pride that the portrait of a Gursikh will permanently grace the walls of the UK Parliament.
