‘387 times shelling …’, Jailonsky accused Russia of Easter ceasefire violation

Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonsky has accused Russia of violating the Easter ceasefire. He claimed that Russia fired 387 times during the ceasefire period, which he described a clear indication of “Russia’s apathy towards peace”. The statement came after the announcement of a unilateral ceasefire by Russia, which has been cheated by Jailonsky.

Jailonsky said in his television address that Russia did not stop its aggression even on the holy occasion of Easter. With 387 shelling, he not only violated the ceasefire, but also insulted the feelings of Ukrainian people. He called upon the international community to impose more strict ban on Russia.

Explain that Russia had announced a day -long ceasefire on Easter, which was to run till midnight on Sunday. However, Ukraine says Russia continued heavy artillery and rocket attacks in the Donbas region during this period. According to the Ukrainian army, many citizens were injured in these attacks and damaged infrastructure.

However, Russia has denied these allegations. Moscow claims that it has fully followed the ceasefire and the Ukrainian Army took action. The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “Ukraine’s claims are baseless and their purpose is to mislead the international community.”

The dispute may further increase tension in the Russia-Ukraine war running since 2022. The war has created the largest refugee crisis in Europe due to war. Millions of Ukrainians have been displaced in this. Jailonsky also said that Russia recently rejected US President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan. This has reduced the possibilities of peace talks. International observers have called for restraint from both sides and prioritizing human status. The United Nations has warned that increasing violence in Eastern Ukraine may pose even more threat to citizens.
