BRICS countries on Sunday criticized the increase in fee and attacks on Iran without naming US President Donald Trump.
The BRIC manifesto also criticized Israel’s military action in West Asia, but Russia’s criticism was avoided and war -torn Ukraine was mentioned only once.
The leaders of his two most powerful countries were absent in this two -day summit. Chinese President Xi Chinfing did not attend the BRICS summit for the first time since becoming the leader of the country in 2012. He was replaced by Chinese Prime Minister Lee Kiang. Russian President Vladimir Putin also joined it through a video conference. He avoids foreign visits due to an international arrest warrant released after the attack on Ukraine.
Targeting the President of the US indirectly, “serious concerns” were expressed about the increase in the fee (tariff) in the group’s manifesto, which he said that it is not in line with the rules of the World Trade Organization. ” BRICS stated that such restrictions are “there is a danger of” decreased global trade, obstruction in global supply chains and uncertainty. “
Meanwhile, Trump has threatened to impose an additional fee of 10 percent on countries supporting the “anti -America policies” of the BRICS group.
Iranian President Masood Porashakian has sent Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi for this conference in his place.
In the group’s manifesto, attacks on Iran are condemned without naming the US or Israel.
BRICS leaders expressed “serious concern” about the human situation in Gaza, appealed to the release of all the hostages and re-starting talks and reiterated their commitment to two-nation solutions.
Later, Iran’s Aragchi said in a separate statement on the messaging app Telegram that his government has expressed its objection to the two-nation solution through a note. He said that this solution will not work “as it has not been able to work before.”
On Telegram itself, Russia’s Foreign Ministry in another statement condemned the “military attacks” on Iran without any provocation.
Ukraine was mentioned only once in the Group’s 31-pest declaration, which has “strongly condemned” of the recent Ukrainian attacks on Russia.
The BRICS was founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, but the group expanded last year and included Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates.
Apart from new member countries, the group also includes 10 strategic partner countries. This category was made at the previous year’s summit, including countries such as Belarus, Cuba and Vietnam.
