Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan
Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan, founder and jailed Prime Minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, is ready to start dialogue with the government to deal with the ‘country’ and the current political and economic challenges. In a conversation with reporters outside the Islamabad High Court, Gandapur expressed disappointment at not allowing Khan to meet Khan in Adiala Jail, despite the court order allowing a weekly meeting.
‘Some people are obstructing reconciliation efforts’
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emphasized the importance of consulting Khan on important matters, especially the upcoming budget discussions. Gandapur said that the Khans are ready to forgive the government and talk to it. He emphasized that the current political instability and economic crisis are harming the country. Without naming someone, the Chief Minister said that some people are obstructing reconciliation efforts, while Khan has always been saying that he is keen to talk ‘for Pakistan’. Gandapur also said that the request of Khan’s release is being reviewed and all constitutional avenues are being adopted.
Hearing in Al Qadir case
In a separate development, the High Court heard the request of Khan for release of Parol in the 19 crore pound Al Qadir Trust Land corruption case. During the hearing, advocate Niazullah Niazi spoke about seven pending petitions of contempt of court, while the hearing of the sentence suspension has not been decided yet. The Acting Chief Justice said that separate decisions are required on the issue of Parol release and advised that matters related to the government should be addressed through appropriate forums.
