Baghdad: Iraq’s Prime Minister has said that a commander of the terrorist organization Islamic State and eight other terrorists have been killed during a military operation. At the same time, American officials said that American and Iraqi security forces conducted a joint operation throughout Monday night and during this, two American soldiers were also injured.
‘There is no place for terrorism in Iraq’
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said Jassim al-Mazruei Abu Abdul Kadir was killed in a joint operation by anti-terrorism security forces and the National Security Service in the Hamreen mountainous region of Salahuddin province. “There is no room for terrorism in Iraq,” al-Sudani said in a statement. We will follow them to their hideouts and eliminate them.”
American soldiers injured
Major General of the US Air Force, Pat Ryder, press secretary of the Pentagon, headquarters of the US Defense Department, said that the condition of the two American soldiers injured during the operation is stable. Ryder and other US officials said top Islamic State militants were targeted during the operation. However, he did not confirm whether Abdul Qadir was killed in the attack.
Accurate intelligence was received
Another US official said the Pentagon was awaiting final investigative analysis before revealing the identities of the slain terrorists. The Joint Operations Command said in a statement that the operation was conducted “based on accurate intelligence inputs from international coalition forces.” According to the statement, the announcement regarding the terrorists killed in the attack will be made after the DNA test.
