Russia BRICS Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia on 22-23 October 2024 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This PM Modi will participate in the 16th BRICS summit to be held in Kazan under the chairmanship of Russia. Held on the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security”, the summit will provide an important platform for leaders to discuss key global issues.

PM Modi may have bilateral meetings with other leaders

The summit will also provide an opportunity to assess the progress of the initiatives undertaken by BRICS and identify potential areas for future cooperation. During his visit, PM Modi is also likely to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts and invited leaders of BRICS member countries in Russia.

BRICS member countries

Russia is presiding over BRICS this year. BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, Argentina and United Arab Emirates are its new members.

PM Modi went to Russia in July

Earlier on July 8, PM Modi went to Russia for two days. Here Russian President Vladimir Putin honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Russia’s highest civilian honour, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle. PM Modi thanked Putin on this. He had said that this is the honor of 140 crore Indians. It is a reflection of the age-old friendship between India and Russia.
