Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he agreed with the US proposal associated with a 30 -day ceasefire in Ukraine, but needs to work on its terms. Putin insisted on restoration of permanent peace. Putin said at a press conference in Moscow, “So this idea is correct in itself. We definitely support it. But there are issues that we need to discuss and I think we need to discuss this with our American colleagues and partners. ”
Russia wants a long -term peaceful solution
Vladimir Putin emphasized the need to develop a mechanism to prevent possible violations of ceasefire. He said that another issue is whether Ukraine will be able to use the 30 -day ceasefire to continue mobilization and re -regulation. Putin said, “We agree with the proposals to stop the fight, but we move forward with the notion that the ceasefire will bring permanent peace and the root causes of the crisis will be overcome.”

Putin said that it seems that the US persuaded Ukraine to accept the ceasefire, but Ukraine is interested in it due to the situation in the battlefield. He said that Ukrainian troops infiltrating the Kursk region of Russia would be completely stopped in the coming days. Referring to the presence of Ukrainian soldiers in Kursk, he said, “Will all the people present there come out without any fight?” Putin thanked US President Donald Trump “for noting so much attention to the agreement related to Ukraine”. He also thanked the leaders of China, India, Brazil and South Africa.
Ukraine will benefit
Russia has said that it will not accept peace soldiers from any member country of NATO to monitor any possible ceasefire. Earlier, US President Trump’s envoy reached Moscow on Thursday for talks on the 30 -day ceasefire proposed by Washington, but a senior Russian official said that this initiative would only benefit Ukraine, as its tired and low -number army would get some rest. Ukraine has accepted the resolution of ceasefire. This diplomatic attempt has been made amidst the claim of Russia that its soldiers have drove out the Ukrainian army from a major city in the Russian Curc border area, from where Moscow had been trying to remove Ukrainian soldiers for seven months.
