The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that its forces have occupied the village of Olevention on the border of Ukraine. The ministry said in a statement, “Units of the Russian Army’s ‘North’ military group units have freed the village of Olevention of Kursk region during active aggressive campaigns.”
Associated Press could not immediately confirm this claim and there was no immediate response from Ukrainian officials. According to the Russian government news agency Tas, Russia is still struggling to get Ukraine’s army out of Gournel village, about 11 kilometers south of Olevention. The agency quoted the Russian security agencies as saying, “The Russian army has not yet taken out the armed forces of Ukraine from Gornel.”
