Russia on Saturday claimed that its forces captured two settlements in the Donnetsk region of Ukraine in the last 24 hours. The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Ceredne and Clabon bikes came under Russian control after action taken by southern and western military groups.
The Ministry also claimed that the Russian Army attacked Ukrainian military complexes and temporary deployment sites of Ukrainian armed structures and foreign fighters at 143 places.
Additionally, Russian Air Raksha successfully fought the Ukrainian air strikes and killed four directed aerial bombs and 160 drones last week, the Anadolu news agency cited the statement of the Ministry of Defense.
This incident has occurred at a time when peace talks are going on between the two countries in the media’s mediation to end the war.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelansky spoke to South African President Cyril Ramposa and told him that he was all set to interact with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a post on X, he said, “I spoke to the Republic of South Africa at his request.
He further said, “I reiterated my readiness for any meeting with the head of Russia. However, we are seeing that Moscow is once again trying to pull the matter even longer. It is necessary that global South send relevant signs and take Russia to peace.”
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump once again threatened on Friday that if there was no peaceful solution in Ukraine within two weeks, they would ban Russia. The threat reflects his frustration towards Moscow a week after a warm meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
According to Al Jazeera, Russian External Affairs Minister Sergei Lavarov said that there is no agenda of a possible summit between Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodimir Zelanski. He accused Putin of saying “not for everything”.
