President Volodimir Zelancesi thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for congratulating Ukraine on Independence Day on Tuesday and said that Kiev is relying on “India’s contribution” to end the war with Russia.
Zelansky said in a social media post that Ukraine appreciates India’s dedication to “peace and talks”.
Zelansky said, “Now, while the whole world is trying to end this terrible war with respect and permanent peace, we rely on India’s contribution. Every decision that strengthens diplomacy leads not only in Europe, but also in Hind-Pacific and further than that.”
On August 16, Prime Minister Modi wished for a future full of peace and progress for the people of Ukraine and thanked Zelancesi for the wishes of Independence Day.
Wishing India a happy Independence Day on August 15, Zelansky said that he hopes New Delhi will contribute to the efforts to end the war with Russia.
Modi said on X, “President Zelancesi, thank you for your heartfelt wishes. I give great importance to the joint commitment to make even more close relations between India and Ukraine. We wish for a future full of peace, progress and prosperity for our friends in Ukraine.”
Zelansky posted a letter received from Prime Minister Modi on August 24 on Tuesday, in which the Ukrainian President was thanked on India’s Independence Day for his “thoughtful message” and “wishes”.
Recalling his visit to Kiev in August last year, Modi said that he is ready to strengthen our mutually beneficial cooperation “.
He wrote, “I wish you and the people of Ukraine on your Independence Day on the occasion.
Modi said that India has always stood in favor of peace and is committed to “give all possible support for honest efforts for the early, permanent and peaceful solution through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Ukrainian leader’s remarks came at a time when US President Donald Trump’s time limit for imposing a 50 percent “punitive fee” to purchase Russian crude oil on India is approaching August 27.
