US President Donald Trump has said that there has always been tension between India and Pakistan and the two countries will solve it “rough”.
Trump said this comment on Friday when he was asked about the tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack and was asked if he would talk to the leaders of the two countries. 26 civilians were killed in this attack.
While going to Rome, Trump said in a press conference with reporters in the Air Force One, “I am very close to India and Pakistan, as you know. And in Kashmir they have been struggling for 1,000 years. Kashmir has been going on for 1,000 years, perhaps even more than that. And yesterday’s case was very bad, however, he was too bad.” More than 30 people were killed. “
He said, “That border has been stressed for 1,500 years. So you know it is the same as it was, but they will somehow solve it. I will sure … I know both leaders. There is a lot of stress between Pakistan and India. But it has always been there.”
India on Wednesday suspended the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) and reduced diplomatic relations with Islamabad. After the attack on Tuesday in Pahalgam, India took the decision in which 26 people were killed, most of which were tourists.
Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba’s colleague organization The Resistance Front (TRF) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In response to India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan on Thursday threatened to suspend the Shimla Agreement and postpone other bilateral agreements with India. Pakistan also suspended all trade, shut down its airspace for Indian airlines and said that any attempt to turn the water prescribed for it under the Indus Water Treaty would be considered as war action.
Islamabad also closed the Wagah Border Outpost, canceled the visas given to Indians under the SAARC Visa Rebate Scheme (SVES) and asked the military advisors of the Indian High Commission to leave from there – which reflects the steps taken by India regarding the Pahalgam terror attack.
