Islamabad: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that mutual will is needed to normalize relations with India. Speaking to reporters at the Foreign Office, Dar highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts since the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government came to power last year. When asked about Pakistan’s relations with India, he stressed the importance of joint efforts and said that clapping is done with both hands.

Dar will go to Bangladesh

Regarding his plan to visit Bangladesh next month, Dar said that relations between Islamabad and Dhaka are being rebuilt after the ouster of Hasina government in August last year. He said that during a recent meeting in Cairo, he had received an invitation from Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus. “Bangladesh is like a long-lost brother,” he said. Our aim is to strengthen economic and trade cooperation.” Yunus took over as chief advisor after the student-led movement ousted then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power on August 5 last year.

Dar rejected these claims

Rejecting claims of the country being isolated, Dar said, “When we took power, there was a perception of diplomatic isolation. However, this perception has changed as we expand our diplomatic reach and engage with regional neighbours.” Commenting on Afghanistan, Dar expressed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen ties with Kabul and acknowledged that terrorism Remains a big challenge. He revealed that the proposed trips to Kabul have been postponed due to the terrorist attacks. He also criticized former intelligence chief General Faiz Hameed for negotiating with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Dar highlighted the progress in Pakistan’s nuclear energy sector and announced the launch of ‘Chashma 5’ (C-5) nuclear power project with China in 2023 after completing ‘K2’ and ‘K3’ projects. Will be finalized. Outgoing Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch dismissed rumors of military use of Gwadar port. He said, “Gwadar port is for the development of Pakistan and it has been built with the cooperation of China.”
