US President Donald Trump again reiterated his claim that he has “resolved” the recent controversy between India and Pakistan through “trade”.
Trump said in his statement at the Oval office during a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramfosa, “If you see what we have done to Pakistan and India. We have solved that whole matter, and I think I have resolved it through business.”
He said that America is making a “big deal” with both India and Pakistan. Trump said, “And I asked, ‘What are you guys doing?”
He said, “Somebody had to shoot in the last. But the incidents of firing were increasing, getting bigger in countries. And we talked to them. And we talked to them, and I think we, you, you know, I am sad to say that we have resolved it, and then two days later, something happened, and he said that it is a mistake of Trump.”
Trump said, “But, some of the best people in Pakistan and some are very good, great leaders. And India is my friend, Modi.”
In response, the South African President said, “Modi, mutual friend”.
Trump said, “He is a great man and I called them both. It’s a good thing.”
The US President has repeatedly claimed that he helped resolve tension between India and Pakistan. Significantly, India had made accurate attacks on the terrorist infrastructure under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on the morning of 7 May in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. 26 people were killed in this attack.
After Indian action, Pakistan tried to attack Indian military bases on 8, 9 and 10 May. The Indian Army attacked several Pakistani military establishments.
After four days of drone and missile attacks from across the border, it was agreed to end the military conflict between India and Pakistan on 10 May. On May 10, Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to “full and immediate” ceasefire after talks in Washington’s mediation “long night”.
