Kiev: Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky said he is happy to see that Russia is trying to end the war. Jailonsky said that there should be a ceasefire before the peace talks begin. Describing it as a positive indication, Jailonsky said, “The whole world had been waiting for it for a very long time and the first step to end any war is a ceasefire.”

What did Putin do?

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin effectively rejected the ceasefire proposal in a statement to the media on Saturday night and instead proposed to resume a direct conversation with Ukraine in Istanbul on 15 May.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister said this

Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister had said that Ukraine and his associates have agreed to a 30 -day full and unconditional ceasefire. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister spoke about the ceasefire at a time when the leaders of 4 European countries reached Kiev on Saturday to show joint support. Leaders of France, Germany, Poland and Britain reached Kiev and met Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonsky. (AP)
