Only a few days are left for the Paris Olympics 2024 and it is starting from 26 July. It will conclude on 11 August. This time the number of medals of India in the Olympics is expected to reach double digits. India performed its best in the last Olympics. Then India won a total of 7 medals including Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal. A total of 117 Indian athletes are participating in the Olympics 2024. Out of this, 24 are armed forces personnel, who are associated with the army. Of these 24 athletes, 22 are men, including star javelin thrower Subedar Neeraj Chopra, and two are women. For the first time, two women players of the Indian Army are also included in the Olympic team.

Medal is expected from Neeraj Chopra

Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020, is a Subedar in the Indian Army. Everyone is expecting a medal from him. He has won gold medals in the 2023 Asian Games, 2023 World Athletics Championship, 2024 Diamond League and 2024 Paavo Nurmi Games. He is counted among the best players.

For the first time, two female players will participate

2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Havildar Jasmine Lamboria and 2023 Asian Wrestling Championship bronze medalist CPO Ritika Hooda are two female service personnel who are associated with the army and are participating in sports for the first time. If these two female players win medals, history is sure to be created. Jasmine Lamboria will participate in boxing and Ritika Hooda in wrestling.

The other Army sportspersons include Subedar Amit Panghal (boxing), CPO Tejinder Pal Singh Toor (shot put), Subedar Avinash Sable (3000m steeplechase), CPO Muhammad Anas Yahiya, PO Muhammad Ajmal, Subedar Santosh Kumar and JWO Mizo Chacko Kurien (men’s 4x400m relay), JWO Abdullah Abubakar (triple jump), Subedars Tarundeep Rai and Dheeraj Bommadevara (archery) and Naib Subedar Sandeep Singh (shooting).
