A famous Chinese social media influencer died during a live stream. This incident has created a stir on social media platforms.

Money and gifts were received

The girl who died in China was named Pan Shaoting (24) and she was a Mukbang live streamer. Mukbang live streamer means people who entertain people by eating different types of food in front of the camera. Before becoming an influencer, Pan Shaoting was a waitress and she started this work as a side hustle. When she started becoming popular, she left her job and started doing this work full time. Shaoting had also taken a separate studio for her streaming, in return for this work she used to get good money and gifts.

Life was lost while eating

As Pan Shaoting became famous, she made her challenges even more extreme. At the time of her death, Shaoting’s weight had reached 300 kg. The situation had become such that she had to be hospitalized due to gastric bleeding. After being discharged from the hospital, she started taking even more dangerous challenges, she used to eat up to 10 kg of food in one session. Shaoting used to keep eating continuously for 10 hours a day. She died during one such session on July 14. During this time thousands of people were watching her session live. The post-mortem revealed that her stomach had suffered severe damage due to excessive eating. The stomach was full of undigested food and the lower part was deformed.

The family was upset

According to Creaders.net, Pan Shaoting’s parents were concerned about her dangerous eating habits and wanted their daughter to stop. The family told Pan, “What’s the point of making more money? How much harm does it do to the body?” However, Pan reassured them, claiming she could “take risks.” The incident has sparked health concerns on social media. Pan’s tragic death is an example of the potential dangers of mukbang and the inadequacy of health over social media fame.
