Gujarat Adani Green has started producing wind energy at Adani’s Khavra Renewable Energy Project located in Khavra. It is the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a capacity of 30,000 megawatts (30 gigawatts). Built on 538 square kilometers of barren land, this project is five times the size of Paris and almost as big as the city of Mumbai. Here Adani Green has now started operating the first 250 megawatt wind energy capacity. With this, the total energy production capacity of the Khavra Renewable Energy Plant has now become 2,250 megawatts.

The world’s largest offshore wind turbine is installed here

Adani Green Energy has the largest operational renewable energy portfolio in India, with a capacity of 11,184 MW. The company said that Khavda is the largest wind energy source in India. The wind speed of 8 meters per second makes it an ideal place for wind power generation. Khavda Renewable Energy Plant has the world’s largest and high capacity offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5.2 MW. The rotor diameter of this 5.2 MW turbine is 160 meters and its height is about 200 meters, which is equal to the Statue of Unity and is the largest in the world.

Use of German technology

The 5.2 MW wind turbine at Khavda uses German technology and is manufactured at Adani New Industries Limited’s factory at Mundra Port. Adani Green has transformed the barren land of Khavda into a hub of clean and affordable energy. The Khavda renewable energy plant can easily power 16.1 million homes. The world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khavda adds to the efforts in global decarbonisation, as well as demonstrates India’s progress in this field.

The King of Bhutan visited

On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay visited the world’s largest renewable energy site at Khavda in Gujarat. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said that he is very grateful to them for visiting the Khavda renewable energy site and Mundra port. Within 12 months of the foundation stone being laid, 2 GW of energy capacity has been commissioned at the Khavda Energy Plant. Adani Green Energy’s target of renewable energy capacity for the financial year 2029-30 has been increased from 45 GW to 50 GW.
