Amarnath Yatra's Chhari Mubarak was taken to Pahalgam, what is this?

Srinagar: Sawan has begun. The echo of Har Har Bhole is being heard in the temples and Shivalayas of the country. Crowds of devotees have now started gathering to have darshan of Baba Barfani. Meanwhile, the Chadi Mubarak of Amarnath Yatra was taken from Dashnami Akhara Bhawan to Pahalgam on Sunday amid rituals. According to Mahant Dipendra Giri, the custodian of Chadi Mubarak, on the auspicious occasion of Ashadh Purnima, Bhoomi Pujan, Navgrah Pujan, Chhari Pujan and flag hoisting ceremonies were organized with Vedic chanting in Pahalgam. These are traditionally and religiously considered to be the symbol of the beginning of the annual pilgrimage of Swami Amarnath ji.

According to patron Mahant Dipendra Giri, Chhari Mubarak is an important tradition before the main event of the annual pilgrimage of Swami Amarnath ji. He said, ‘The entire atmosphere resonated with the sound of Shankhnaad. A large number of sadhus, pilgrims and many Kashmiri Pandit families from Martand were present on this occasion and they also participated in the ritual.’ Giri said that after the worship, a havan was also performed and langar was also served to all the people present. So let us now know what is this Chhari Mubarak?

What is Stick Mubarak?
Chhari Mubarak is considered a symbol of Lord Shiva. Chhari Mubarak is a religious tradition. It is a silver stick. But its importance is more. There is a belief that this stick contains the supernatural powers of Lord Shiva. It is said that Maharishi Kashyap handed over this stick to Lord Shiva with the order that it should be brought to Amarnath every year.

When did the Amarnath Yatra start
Let us tell you that the 52-day Amarnath Yatra, operated from Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal route of Ganderbal, started on 29 June. So far, about 3.90 lakh devotees have visited Baba Barfani in the holy cave situated at an altitude of 3,800 meters. There are two ways to reach the cave in Amarnath Yatra. Some pilgrims reach Pahalgam to visit the Amarnath cave temple through the traditional 48 km long route in Anantnag district, while some pilgrims come and go through the relatively shorter but difficult Baltal route of 14 km in Ganderbal district. The Amarnath Yatra will end on August 19 on Shravan Purnima on the day of Raksha Bandhan. Last year, more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims had darshan of Baba Barfani.
