Deir al-Balah: The Israeli army has ordered people to vacate the area in the Gaza Strip which it had declared a humanitarian zone. The army said on Monday that it plans to launch an operation against Hamas terrorists who are hiding in this area. According to the army, this area has been used to launch rockets towards Israel. This area includes the eastern part of the Muwasi humanitarian area which is located in the southern Gaza Strip. Such an order has been given by the Israeli army during delicate talks demanding a ceasefire.
There are 1.8 million Palestinians in the humanitarian zone
Earlier this month, Israel said it estimated at least 1.8 million Palestinians were now in a humanitarian zone. It declared a stretch of about 14 kilometers (8.6 miles) along the Mediterranean Sea as a humanitarian zone. The United Nations and humanitarian groups say much of the area is now surrounded by temporary camps that lack sanitation and medical facilities.
Agreement may be reached soon
US and Israeli officials have expressed hope that a ceasefire agreement is close. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said a negotiating team would be sent on Thursday to continue the talks. Egypt, Qatar and the US are pushing Israel and Hamas to reach a phased ceasefire agreement.
Gaza Attack
The campaign continues
The Israeli military also said on Monday that its operation in central and southern Gaza continues. According to hospital officials, at least 15 people, including women and children, were killed in Israeli air strikes in Gaza on Sunday. (AP)
