New Delhi. Rouse Avenue Court has extended the CBI judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal till August 8. The judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and BRS Legislative Council member K. Kavitha, arrested in the money laundering case related to the liquor scam, has also been extended till July 31. Kejriwal and all three were presented in the court through video conferencing. Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia was the first to be arrested in this case in February last year. Since then he is lodged in Tihar Jail. Sisodia’s regular bail plea has been rejected twice by the Supreme Court and is pending for the third time.

On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED in March this year. However, last month, Rouse Avenue Court granted him bail. Before coming out of jail, Kejriwal was arrested by CBI from ED custody. After that, ED challenged the lower court’s decision in the High Court and the court stayed the bail. However, recently Kejriwal has got regular bail from the Supreme Court in the ED arrest case. But due to the CBI case, he has not been able to come out of jail.

K. Kavitha was arrested by the ED from her Hyderabad house in April. Kavitha is accused of being in contact with the South Lobby and playing a major role in the liquor policy scam. K. Kavitha was first arrested by the ED, later the CBI sought permission from the court to interrogate K. Kavitha and arrested her from ED custody. The CBI had claimed in the court that K. Kavitha is one of the main conspirators in this case. Meanwhile, BRS leader K. Kavitha’s health deteriorated on July 16, after which she was admitted to Delhi’s DDU Hospital and from there she was sent to AIIMS.
