Lexus, which is heading towards the next level of growth in India, is now gearing up to strengthen its sales network here and launch new models including fully electric cars. A top official of the company gave this information.
Lexus, the luxury car unit of Japanese car maker Toyota, began operations in India in 2017 and currently sells seven car models in the country, including the India-made ES 300h sedan.
Known for its hybrid cars, Lexus is preparing to foray into the battery-powered electric vehicle space. Naveen Soni, President, Lexus India said that the company is now in a continuous growth phase in the country. He said that at present the UX model is being tested as battery electric according to India.
He said that the company can seriously consider launching this model in the country after the tests specifically determine the effect of heat and dust on the battery. Sony said that with the development of charging infrastructure in the future, the company will be more ready for battery electric vehicles.
