Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelift version of its popular MPV Ertiga. Prices of the new Ertiga start at Rs 8.35 Lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 12.79 Lakh. If we look at the price and segment, then it is going to compete with the lower trims of the Kia Carens. Kia Carens price starts from ₹ 9.59 Lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹ 17.69 Lakh for the top model. Ertiga beats the price
Kia had launched the Carens at a starting price of Rs. 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, after a few weeks, its initial price was reduced to Rs 9.59 lakh, removing the introductory price. The Kia Carens comes in a total of 5 trims – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. The Maruti Ertiga will compete with the three lower trims. While the premium variant of the Carens with 1.5-litre petrol manual costs Rs 9.59 lakh, the Prestige variant starts at Rs 10.69 lakh. The starting price of ₹ 13.89 Lakh (ex-showroom) for the Prestige Plus variant of the Carencer.

In comparison, the Maruti Ertiga is more affordable. Base (Lxi) variants of the 2022 Ertiga start at Rs 8.35 lakh. On the other hand, the Vxi and Zxi mid-spec trims compete with the base variants of the Carens. Prices for the 1.5-litre petrol manual Vxi variant start at Rs 9.49 lakh and go up to Rs 10.99 lakh for the automatic variant. The price of the Zxi automatic variant is ₹ 12.09 lakh. The top-end Zxi+ variant with manual transmission costs Rs 11.29 lakh, while the automatic version costs Rs 1.50 lakh more.
Maruti Ertiga vs Kia Carens Features
Talking about the features, Kia Carens is ahead of the new Maruti Ertiga. All the variants of the Carence come with 6 airbags, whereas Maruti is offering only 4 airbags. Safety features like ESP with Hill Hold Assist, ABD with EBD, rear parking sensors are standard on the Ertiga. Not only does the Carence get the same safety features as the Ertiga, it also gets features like vehicle stability management, downhill braking control, all-wheel disc brakes.

In terms of length, width and height to wheelbase and ground clearance, the Carens has outperformed the Ertiga. In terms of boot space too, the Carens gets 7 liters of extra space. The longer wheelbase means that the Carens will get more space for the passengers. The Cars gets a cabin equipped with features like 10.25-inch HD touchscreen display, digital driver display, wireless charging, connected car tech and one-touch tumble down feature on the second row seats. Maruti Ertiga gets features like 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital driver display and more than 40 connected cars.
Maruti Ertiga vs Kia Carens Engine
While the Kia Carense comes in petrol and diesel options, Maruti only offers the new Ertiga in petrol and CNG versions. Kia Carence is available with three engine options. This includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115PS and 144Nm), 1.4-litre turbo petrol (140PS and 242Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (250Nm). The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. While the 7-speed DCT is limited to just 1.4-litre turbo petrol.
The new K15C series 1.5-litre DualJet petrol engine of the 2022 Maruti Ertiga can generate 101 hp and 136 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a new 6-speed automatic torque converter. Talking about mileage, the new Maruti Ertiga is ahead of Kia Carens. While the Ertiga delivers a mileage of more than 20 kmpl, the Kia Carens petrol variant offers a mileage of not more than 16.5 kmpl.
