FADA April 2022 Vehicle Retail Data: The news is good. Or rather, very good. FADA i.e. Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released the vehicle registration figures for April 2022. After a long time, these figures are comforting. Actually, there has been tremendous growth in every segment of vehicle registration. That is, there was annual growth in all segments of two-wheeler, three-wheeler, four-wheeler, commercial vehicle, tractor. 16,27,975 units were sold in April 2022 with an annual growth of 37.06%. In April 2021, 11,87,771 units were sold. The annual growth was 331.56% as compared to April 2020. Let us know what was the condition of which segment and which company was the top in its segment.
37.99% year-on-year growth in the two-wheeler segment
Even though the auto industry had recovered from the COVID-19 epidemic, the two-wheeler sale was not taking its name. However, in April 2022, retail sales of two-wheelers grew by 37.99% year-on-year. Last month, 11,94,520 units of the two-wheeler were sold. While 8,65,628 units were sold in April 2021 and 3,18,596 units in April 2020. That is, the retail sales of two-wheelers were the best compared to the last two years.
Hero MotoCorp Limited was at number one in the retail sale of two-wheeler. Last month, the company sold 4,10,722 units of the two-wheeler. Its market share stood at 34.38%. After this, Honda was at number two in the list of top-5, TVS at third, Bajaj Auto at fourth and Royal Enfield at fifth. Their market share stood at 24.67%, 15.08%, 10.08% and 3.94% respectively.

Annual growth of 95.91% in three-wheeler segment
Now talking about the three-wheeler segment, it got a growth of 95.91% on a yearly basis. Its retail sales were the best compared to the last two years. Last month, 42,396 units of the three-wheeler were sold. While 21,640 units were sold in April 2021 and 10,567 units in April 2020. Retail sales of three-wheelers increased by 301.21% as compared to April 2020.
Bajaj Auto Limited was at number one in the retail sale of three-wheelers. Last month, the company sold 13,377 units of the three-wheeler. Its market share stood at 31.55%. After this, Piaggio (PIAGGIO) was at number two in the list of top-5, YC Electric at third, Mahindra & Mahindra at fourth and Atul Auto at fifth. Their market share was 10.38%, 4.45%, 4.17% and 3.09% respectively.

25.47% year-on-year growth in passenger vehicle segment
Talking about the passenger vehicle segment, it got a growth of 25.47% on a yearly basis. Its retail sales were the best compared to the last three years. Last month, 2,64,342 units of the passenger vehicle were sold. While 2,10,682 units were sold in April 2021, 22,079 units in April 2020 and 2,36,217 in April 2019. The retail sales of passenger vehicle increased by 1097.26% as compared to April 2020.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited was at number one in the retail sale of passenger vehicle. Last month, the company sold 1,06,144 units of the three-wheeler. Its market share stood at 40.15%. After this, Hyundai is at number two in the list of top-5, Tata is on the third, Mahindra is on the fourth and Kia is on the fifth.
Their market share was 14.40%, 13.75%, 8.44% and 6.35% respectively.
52.18% year-on-year growth in commercial vehicle segment
Talking about the commercial vehicle segment, it got a growth of 52.18% on a yearly basis. Its retail sales were the best compared to the last two years. Last month, 78,398 units of commercial vehicles were sold. While 51,515 units were sold in April 2021 and 20,284 units in April 2020. The retail sales of Passenger Vehicles registered a year-on-year growth of 286.50% as compared to April 2020 and 52.18% year-on-year growth as compared to April 2021.
Tata Motors Limited was at number one in the retail sale of commercial vehicles. Last month, the company sold 33,581 units of commercial vehicles. Its market share stood at 42.83%. After this, Mahindra & Mahindra was at number two in the list of top-5, Ashok Leyland at number three, VE Commercial Vehicle at number four and Maruti Suzuki at number five. Their market share stood at 21.50%, 15.67%, 6.95% and 4.45% respectively.
