PCB refused to give NOC to Babar Azam and other players to participate in Global T20 League.
A few days ago, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refused to give NOC to fast bowler Naseem Shah to participate in The Hundred League. Now they have taken a similar decision regarding captain Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and other players in the upcoming Global T20 League. PCB has clearly refused to give NOC, rejecting the request of all these players.
PCB cited busy international schedule as the reason
In a statement issued to the media by the PCB, it was told that after discussing with the three players and the National Selection Committee, they have decided not to give the NOC. The PCB informed that they had received requests for NOC from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi as well as other players so that they could play in the Global T20 League. We refused to give them NOC keeping in mind the busy upcoming international schedule of the Pakistani team which is from August 2024 to March 2025. The Pakistani team has to play 9 Test matches in this schedule and apart from this, the Champions Trophy is also to be played early next year.
Apart from 9 Tests, the Pakistani team also has to play 14 ODIs and 9 T20s
Apart from 9 Test matches, the Pakistani team has to play 14 ODIs and 9 T20 matches till March next year and keeping all these things in mind, the PCB has given the reason behind this decision keeping in mind the workload of the players playing in all three formats. Pakistan has to play a 2-match Test series against Bangladesh at home from August 21 and after that they also have to host England. At the same time, PCB has given NOC to Mohammad Aamir, Mohammad Nawaz, Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali, who play only in limited overs format, to participate in the Global T20 League.
