Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty Badminton Paris Olympics 2024: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are in excellent form and Indians have high hopes of winning a gold medal from this pair. Chirag and Rankireddy are the first Indian pair to reach number 1 in the BWF World Rankings. When these two were paired initially, language was a major problem as both came from different backgrounds. But gradually they understood each other’s game and made their mark on the badminton court. Both the players are tall and strong and have the power to defeat any opponent in the world. Satwik is known for his back-court game, while Chirag handles the game well. Both have a never-say-die attitude, which takes them out of difficult situations.
Both of them took training at Pullela Gopichand Academy
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy was born in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2000. He followed in his father’s footsteps and made a career in badminton. In 2014, he joined the Pullela Gopichand Academy and thought of doing well in men’s doubles. Chirag Shetty was born in 1997 in Malad, Mumbai. First he learned the tricks of badminton at Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai. After this he shifted to Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad.
Won gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2018
Both of them won the gold medal for India in the mixed team event in the Commonwealth Games 2018. Apart from this, they won the silver medal in men’s doubles. In the Hyderabad Open, they won the first BWF World Tour title by defeating the pair of Akbar Bintang and Mohammad Riza of Indonesia. After this, the Indian pair never looked back. They kept climbing the ladder of success.
In 2019, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty became the first Indian doubles pair to win a BWF Superseries or BWF World Tour (Super 500+) title. They won the Thailand Open title and defeated the Chinese pair of Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen in the final.
Was part of the team that won Thomas Cup
In the beginning of the year 2022, both of them won the India Open title. He has also been a part of the winning team that won the Thomas Cup. He had made a significant contribution in getting Thomas for India. The Indian pair won the Commonwealth Games 2022 gold medal in men’s doubles. Their performance was improving year after year and they were giving India one title after another. In the year 2023, they won the Indonesia Open title, which was their first title of BWF World Super 1000. Both Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty understand each other’s game well and which helps them maintain their hold in high profile tournaments.
