The Central Government told Parliament that a total of Rs 3930.85 crore is deposited in the inoperative accounts of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF). Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav gave this information in a written reply to a question by Sushil Kumar Modi.
“There is no unclaimed deposit in the Employees’ Provident Fund. According to the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme 1952, some accounts are classified as dormant accounts. As on March 31, 2021, the total amount deposited in such dormant accounts is Rs.3930.85 crore.
He informed that the total number of establishments registered with Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) under different categories is 18,62,128. Along with this, he said that after October 1, 2020, 1,44,82,359 new employees were recruited by these establishments.
Which state has the highest number of establishments: He said that Maharashtra has the highest number of registered establishments (2,97,684) while Delhi has 1,14,151, Gujarat 1,37,686, Tamil Nadu 1,67,390 and Uttar Pradesh has 1,47,790 establishments registered with EPFO.
