The government is preparing to merge Bharat Broadband Nigam Limited (BBNL) with loss-making public sector telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Giving this information, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director PK Purwar said that this merger will happen this month.
In a recent program organized by All India Graduate Engineers and Telecom Officers Association (AIGTOA), he said that the government is giving BSNL a chance to change.
BSNL will get all the work of BBNL
Purwar said in the All India Conference of AIGTOA in the past, “The government has taken a policy decision to merge BBNL with BSNL. This means that all the work of BBNL at all India level is going to go to BSNL.

Referring to his meeting with the Union Telecom Minister, Purwar said that they had an hour-long meeting in this regard. BSNL already has a network of over 6.8 lakh km of optical fiber cable (OFC).
